About Catherine
Home has always been extremely important to me. I had an exciting upbringing in a military family that frequently travelled and relocated around the States and England. During these moves, I watched my mom create beautiful, comfortable homes on a tight budget time and time again. Regardless of where we found ourselves, home was far from just a place to hold our belongings; it was truly a place that grounded and nurtured us.
I have always been a very visual person and spent many hours organizing and decorating my room from an early age. So much so that it didn’t take long for friends to start asking me to fix up their bedrooms as well. Growing up, my mother’s career in floral design, my father’s artistic skills as a painter and sculptor, and my parents’ shared love of photography fed my developing sense of aesthetics. It is no surprise that I loved helping in the flower shop as a teen, chose to study art history in college, and took photography and design courses just for fun!
After receiving my master’s degree in counseling, I worked as a therapist and honed my listening and problem-solving skills. I loved counseling and helping people; however, I eventually realized that I wanted to tap into my more creative side. Through years of decorating my own homes as well as helping friends in theirs, it became apparent that interior decorating was a natural fit for me – combining my visual nature with my love of home and my desire to help others.
I really enjoy figuring out what makes a space visually interesting and appealing. As a wife and mother of two, I also appreciate the value of having an organized home that functions well for a busy family. I love helping our clients create gorgeous, functional spaces that make you happy to come home!
